Binding Thorny Links
Core Idea: Conjure binding force as ethereal chains.
Effect: Summons chains that wrap around a target’s limbs or body, restraining movement. Can pin, trip, or drag a target to the ground, but is not meant to maim.
Shard: Hána shard
Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)
Emotion Requirement: Firm determination and clear intent to restrain, not torture. Cruelty or vengeful rage makes the chains harsher and less stable.
Side / Miscast Effects:
Chains too tight → bruising, sharp pain, or minor sprains.
Chains too loose → easy to strain against or break.
Wáni’s intent wavers, the chains may snap and recoil, briefly numbing the Wáni’s hands or arms.
Manifestation:
The bracelet has a cyan glow before a metallic ribbon flies out. It coils around Wáni’s wrist in time with each strong beat of the melody. The ribbon goes out breaking into segments of thorny links flying around the target’s limbs or body. It lunges them toward the ground by pinning them down.
Ritual & Melody:
Heavy, rhythmic melody; each strong beat “forges” another link. The Wáni often plants their feet firmly and may make a small, binding gesture with their free hand toward the target.
Duration: Until broken, dismissed, or zíno focus fails (usually a few minutes).
Casting Time: 5–10 seconds.
Range: Short to midrange (10–20 feet).
Limits: Strong, enraged, or magically resistant targets can strain or break the chains. Multiple targets are more difficult; beginners typically bind only one at a time.
