Protection & Barriers

Airy Embrace

Core Idea: Shape air into soft, resilient cushions around a target.

Effect: Creates air “bubbles” that cushion falls, soften impacts, and reduce damage from light blows.

Shard: Zéfu Shard

Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)

Emotion Requirement:  Lighthearted, playful focus.

Side / Miscast Effects:

Wobbly cushions that can unbalance the target.

Over-compression makes movement feel sluggish.

Manifestation: The bracelet has a silvery glow having an airy ribbon flying out. It swirls lazily around Wáni's wrist in time with the quick, dancing notes. As the melody settles on the target, the ribbon whips outward by breaking into small coils of light. Each coil spirals into place around the target’s joints and torso. It flares and then fades into translucent bubbles. The bubbles shimmer faintly when struck, like heat-haze with a silvery-blue edge.

Ritual & Melody: Quick, dancing notes with short rests; Wáni may shift stance or spin lightly.

Duration: Up to 5 minutes with focus.

Casting Time:  5–10 seconds.

Range:  3-foot radius around one target.

Limits:  Works best in open areas; cramped or turbulent air disrupts it.

Harmony Barrier

Core Idea: A resonant barrier that redirects or softens incoming force.

Effect: Forms a protective field around the Wáni best against sudden impacts.

Shard: Gári Shard

Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)

Emotion Requirement: Composed resolve—neither fear nor rage dominates.

Side / Miscast Effects:

Off harmony shield rings loudly when struck, revealing position.

Bad timing creates a weak spot that shatters on impact.

Manifestation: The bracelet glows with a pale light to have a radiant ribbon flying out. It circles the Wáni in a slow orb when the ribbon flattens and splits into overlapping circular arcs. Its layering around the Wáni is like translucent ripples. When struck, these arcs flare in color, ringing softly with the impact. Overlapping luminous circles, like ripples; impacts make them flare in color.

Ritual & Melody: Wáni plays a higher pattern

Duration: Several minutes, or until broken/dismissed.

Casting Time:10–15 seconds.

Range: Five feet radius around Wáni or fixed nearby point.

Limits: Poor against slow, crushing forces (heavy weights, gradual pressure).

Flame Guard

Core Idea: A spiral of fire that protects the Wáni and threatens nearby enemies.

Effect: Flames coil around the Wáni in a moving ring or tight spiral. Burns threats that get too close and can knock aside or scorch some physical attacks.

Shard: Bázu shard

Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)

Emotion Requirement: Controlled fierceness; anger must be focused and protective, not wild. Rage or fear makes the fire erratic and dangerous.

Side / Miscast Effects:

Uncontrolled flames can flare outward, scorching allies or setting nearby objects alight.

Wáni flinches emotionally, the spiral can collapse inward, licking at their own clothes and skin (minor burns, stinging).

Manifestation: The bracelet glows azure as a cyan ribbon flies out to snap on Wáni’s wrist. It streams outward when the melody has an intense tone. Starting a trail of sparks spiraling around Wáni's body in a rising or falling coil. The sparks are becoming living flames around them.

Ritual & Melody: A driving, intense melody with sharp accents; each accent kicks the flames higher or outward. The Wáni shifts their stance bracing as if against a physical storm.

Duration: Short, usually under a minute.

Casting Time: Two to four seconds.

Range:  Very close within a few feet.

Limits: Dangerous in dry, flammable environments. Ranged enemies stay largely unaffected unless they move in. Maintaining the spiral for too long can exhaust the Wáni’s zíno and strain their control.

Reflective shield

Core Idea: A shield of mirrored light that can deflect or reflect attacks.

Effect: Creates a reflective barrier around the Wáni or a point nearby. Some attacks glance off; others can be angled or even bounced back toward a source, with enough skill.

Shard: Rífu Shard

Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)

Emotion Requirement: Focused awareness and a balanced, analytical mindset. Panic or being emotional makes the shield uneven and fragile.

Side / Miscast Effects:

Imperfect shield → light and energy may scatter unpredictably, briefly blinding allies or the Wáni.

Strong hits can shatter the shield into fragments.

The prismatic energy sting with a dizziness, dazzled vision, ringing ears.

Manifestation: The bracelet has a white glow having a glasslike ribbon flies out. It circles Wáni’s wrist to spiral outward in a widening loop. Repeating arpeggios. It arches up to sketch the frame of a shield. The ribbon splits into many fine strands weaving together. They are becoming a distorted, mirrored shield in front of them.

Ritual & Melody:  Clear, repeating arpeggios; the pattern is steady and predictable. The Wáni turns slowly while playing, using the movement to “shape” the shield’s curve and placement.

Duration: Brief but sturdy to absorb or deflect a few solid hits before cracking.

Casting Time:  About 10 seconds.

Range:  Close to the Wáni or formed 2–3 feet away to protect a person or a small group.

Limits: Needs some space to form; cramped or uneven environments can warp the shield’s shape and reflection angles. Reflecting complex or multiple attacks back accurately requires high skill and calm.

Misty Veil

Core Idea:  Conjure a cool mist for concealment and emotional cooling.

Effect: Creates a ground hugging fog in a ten feet radius.  Slightly cools overly heated bodies or tempers.

Shard: Mísho Shard

Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)

Emotion Requirement: Reflective, gently melancholic calm.

Side / Miscast Effects:

Too heavy emotion → mist becomes chilling, sapping morale.

Too little focus → thin, ineffective haze.

 Manifestation:

The bracelet gleams with a bluish shimmer. A flowing light ribbon drapes downward to the ground. The ribbon loosens into drifting coils of pale mist. The melody is playing slowly spreading outward into a soft, ground-hugging mist. The temperature is changing when the mist is spreading.

Ritual & Melody:

Flowing, slow melody with sliding notes; Wáni traces circles to shape the fog.

Duration: 15 minutes, gradually thinning.

Casting Time: 10–15 seconds.

Range: 10-foot radius around a chosen point.

Limits: Strong wind tears it apart; best in cool or still air.

Shroud Cloak

Core Idea: Wrap the Wáni in a shroud cloak.

Effect: Blends in the environment without being noticed by anyone.

Shard: Gólo Shard

Instrument: Pávo (Ocarina)

Emotion Requirement: Quiet, watchful intent; not panic.

Side / Miscast Effects:

Flickering cloak that draws the eye instead of hiding.

Overlong use can make Wáni feel detached or become invisible.

Manifestation: The bracelet glows cobalt having a fabric ribbon fly out. It circles close around Wáni's body frays into inky threads. The ribbon wraps around Wáni like a clinging, living cloak.

Ritual & Melody: Low, minor key melody with long held notes; Wáni stands still at the start.

Duration: Several minutes, depending on light conditions.

Casting Time: 10 seconds.

Range: Wáni themselves up to two people.

Limits: Weak in bright sunlight; best at night or indoors.
