I’m going to start out by saying that I highly doubt that this will get approved just because of the sheer amount of work it’d take to do. But I would be willing to pay more for WA if it meant that it gets done ngl.
The feature I would like to see is an onsite map creator like Inkarnate. While I like Inkarnate, I don’t really like having so many separate systems and subscriptions and would love to just be able to log onto World Anvil, go to my world, work on an article, and then edit the map.
So many times I would realize I messed up my Inkarnate map or had to change something and then had to delete the WA upload and start over after redoing the Inkarnate map. I would love to just be able to edit the map “in house”.
Not only that, it would make linking and editing the map super easy. As well as coordinating the map and the articles.
Like I said, I know this won’t be approved, but I figured I’d get it out there. I would be willing to pay more for a WA subscription if it is any consolation lol.
It's really frustrating to see "suggestions" added when the person suggesting them a) knows they will never be added, and b) can do a quick search to find that there are lots of other instances of the same suggestion already being rejected. Such only goes to clogging up the list of _actual_ suggestions, and wasting everyone's time...
You don't need to start over if you make changes to your map image, just replace the base image on what you already have. The FAQ in the Feature Guide to Maps tells you how. No mapmaking feature WA created would be nearly as capable as an application dedicated to making maps. It would instead take development time away from other features that don't have alternatives, to put it toward something that will never be as good as the alternatives that already exist.
While I absolutely agree with you and would love something like this as well, similar suggestions have been denied in the past, so I doubt we'll get something like this - both because of how small the WA team is and how big a project like this would be.
