characters lists
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Right now, we have individual character articles that are created for characters in a campaign, but they also are viewable in the Campaign view as a list of characters. This is fantastic for viewing at a glance character names, portraits, etc. A screenshot of what that looks like in Campaigns is included below:
However, for novelists not using the RPG Campaign tools, there is no pre-made ability to do something like this. It also is a little less convenient shifting away from the world information to the campaign pages to review the data if we are utilizing that as our character list.
Granted, we may be able to create something similar in an article, but then we have to make sure everything aligns alphabetically (the campaign info is sortable automatically this way) and/or check the information on an article by article basis (the campaign info offers some data at a glance). Having a built in tool for this would streamline the process for novelists considerably.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
Creating an option for displaying character articles this way would be ideal to organize and keep track of characters, prevent duplicate names, see at a glance character portraits, and also know where in the world they are currently.
What are other uses for this feature request?
This could also be useful for creating at-a-glance lists for Locations, Organizations, etc. Maybe it could be used to expand Content Trees?
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! Great idea—a planned update to the article manager will include a list of character articles with relevant data.
I also wanted to let you know that in the meeting where we discussed this we thought this was a very well-written feature suggestion! Well done :)
