Currently, if you want to display X number of random articles (block) with a certain tag, this is not possible, because either the specific articles must be referenced, or all articles with the same tag must be displayed.
I propose that BBCode can be used to display a certain number of block articles that match a tag or other common feature, such as also referencing X article.
With this, you could show, for example, X articles related to the one I am reading at the moment, or propose to the reader to continue reading Y number of articles with a specific tag, without always being the same. For example, when you are reading about a deity, you could include in the article, 3 other articles related to that deity, or show 4 other random deities to continue reading.
I like the idea of "sampler" tags, where you only show part of the list. Right now, as this suggestion holds, I must show all articles in a list meeting a tag. I have uses for that, but I also have uses for a possibly randomly-changing subset of that list, that showcases pieces of a world
I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what is being proposed here. It sounds like you suggesting a BBCode to add to a sidebar or footer section (for example) a number of "related" articles? How is "related" defined? By tag? Keyword? Search result? It's an interesting idea, but I think there's more to doing this than it appears.
For some of my pages, I'd definitely prefer this to having it show every single article that uses a certain tag. For other pages, I'd like it to show every one. The option would be great!
Not sure how doable this is, but it seems like with the correct approach it could be very useful. Something along the line of an "AND" for tags maybe.
This would be a lot of fun to play with. I don't know how feasible it is to program, but I want it.
