  Being able to choose the icon regardless of type would be a huge improvement. Chronicles let us do this already (though on an older version of font-awesome).

  YES PLEASE!!! My timelines are massive and have plenty of events that don't really count for any one event type. I was going to request the ability to tag events with two or three types, but this custom type idea is brilliant. It has much more flexability.

  I don't necessarily need new event types, but it would be great if we could select custom icons from the FontAwesome or RPGAwesome set.   I imagine an optional "custom icon" field. If it's empty, the default icon is displayed, but if the author enters a different icon there, it overrides the default in the timeline display.

  A lot of the event types don't quite fit my world but I just try to pick the one that has the best icon considering lol and make it work, but it would be good to have an icon picker without (or separate from) the "event type" list. I don't know how easy this would be to implement, nevertheless, thanks for suggesting. God bless.

  I feel that the current list of options already covers the majority of event types, but having the ability to add custom ones would be really great for adding flair to our worlds :)

  It might be hard to implement. I think the list is already quite complete, or maybe you can just make a list of types you want to be added and suggest them on the voting board.
