What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Everything in the new interface is outright unusuable. Everything moves, disabling animations makes the page stutter. I can't find my wips, can't find the stubs, can't apply filters or combinations of filters. It is a massive downgrade.
Give me a toggle so I can go back to the old interface.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
Adding a toggle to use the old interface makes Wold Anvil usable again.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Restoring usability.
Follow up
The current interface has pre-fixed filters, while the previous one allowed for a combination of filters--a detail that allowed for very specific custom searches. Now, I'm limited to whatever the team deemed useful, rather than being able to combine filters to search how I wanted. The little icons indicating states are not really intuitive: why would the wip be a box instead of the gear we all got used to? Why purple and yellow? There is no intuitive decision behind it, and so the learning curve is complex.
The new interface also acts as a navigation pane, rather than a page, and it's quite difficult to "keep it in place": namely, open anything and the Articles go away, rather than having an overlay. This is problematic because if I want to just check the menu options, simply opening the menu takes me out of the interface.
Likewise, clicking with the wheel to open in a new tab does not work.
Finally, clicking in an article opens the article in quite a crammed up editor, instead of showing me a summary/preview of the article. Before, I was able to have articles listed and open just the ones that I wanted. Now, whenever I click on an article I'm assaulted with a bloated interface in edit mode, that does not show me the description but huge fields that say nothing. I instantly have to open in the "old editor" to make article-editing somewhat useful.
I get it that this is a "work in progress", but the idea is to release--at a bare minimum--an MVP (minimum viable product), not a half-cooked prototype that has half the community complaining. Releasing at parity would've been ideal
The Team's Response
Hi! The old interface will not come back. However, we are interested in hearing your feedback about the new interface! If you have any specific questions or pieces of feedback, we'd love to have them in the feedback area; you can find it in the Help menu (the ? icon in the top right)
