  I have to agree with The Big G here, this request is slightly misinformed and that functionality is far from missing and has actually been nicely improved. You simply need to do as they point out, click the title of the article in the list and boom there ya go, quick edit options without full opening the article. Vignette, title and title image, sidebar, its all there everything you could ask for reasonably.

  The functionality is not missing. With this UI upgrade, the quick edit opens by clicking on the title of an article in the list. Besides editing the vignette you can now also update sidebar information without having to open full edit mode.
