notebook notepad
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The notebook currently has to be open in its own tab, or window, to be referred to while writing. This means flicking between things (and in my case, forgetting things too).
Idea: provide a button that opens the notebook in a modal over the current item being worked on.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
In article writer and manuscripts, if we could have an "Open Notebook Modal" button then we can refer to it without changing tabs.
Making it a button (or option) does not deprive people of the dedicated notebook page either.
What are other uses for this feature request?
The notebook could be used for anything WA-related. It's not limited to article/prose or manuscripts.
It becomes an on-page self-assistant layer, which could increase its usefulness.
You could also give an option to assign a specific notebook to a manuscript, or article and have that float-able.
Follow up
@Hanhula My suggestion was for a button or option so it didn't "deprive people of the dedicated notebook page". Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, there.
@nnie rightly pointed out that I missed you can do this from the green "Create" menu, but it's not obvious. If the top bar "notebook" had a drop-down option "modal" that simply called the same function as the "pin" in the Create menu, then it would be clearer I think. You'd only need to call exactly the same function. But I can see how it "already existing" - technically - means my suggestion is not needed.
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! The notebook will be fully accessible from anywhere in an upcoming update. This will likely cover your needs, so this is accepted!
