Editor Navigation

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I edit all my articles using the Old Version Editor. When I hit Save and then View to go see how the page looks, I may think of something and hit the Edit button at the top of the page to go back and add something new. Ever since the update, this takes me back to the new editor, which I do not want to use in any form. I then have to jump through the hoops of navigating back through to the Old Version Editor so I can do my work the way I want to.   We either need a global override to have the Old Version Editor be something we can set as the one we want to use on our world, or the Edit button should ask which editor we want to go back to when clicking on it.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

It allows me to keep working smoothly without having to do multiple navigations through laggy interfaces to get back to the editor I like using.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! The old article edit will eventually be phased out completely (once the new one is updated to include all of the same features), so this is why you're seeing buttons like that one point to the new one. Since releasing the new UI we have implemented a ton of improvements and optimizations based on the feedback from the community, so I encourage you to try it again! If you have specific feedback or questions, please use the dedicated help and feedback channels you'll find in the "?" button at the top right.

KEEP THE OLD EDITOR; ADD COLOR TEXT.

The new UI is clunky and unoptimized. It's a lot of extra clicks for nothing.

The new version of the site is a nightmare to use and has killed my drive to write. Please, for the love of god, give us a toggle to permanently go back to the old version.

Even with gigabit internet, and 64 GB of RAM, the new visual editor / UI brings my computer to my knees. If blocking didn't kill the site, I would do it because of how awful the loading times are.

Yes please, I loved the old editor. It kept me focused on the page, I didn't have to dig for anything. The new one feels very crowded to me and honestly stresses me out. I know some people really like it, but having the option to use the old one and toggle to it easily would save so much headache, ESPECIALLY with worldember around the corner.

I would suggest a single button somewhere next to every current edit button, where the user can just select old or new version (side-by-side) with one easy click. While there are advantages to the new, it is still buggy at times, so this would be a good temporary measure.

I have 30,000 points/votes and I would use all of them to go back to the old editor - the lack of functionality is perplexing for an upgrade

i spend more time fighting the 'updated' than i do working on articles these days. please bring back the more basic and (more importantly) working workflow and not this 'flashy' (painfully eyesore) of a interface.   please stop breaking what works

New editor involves too much clicking and navigating, which I hate when I'm writing. If there is no way to go back to the old editor I am considering cancelling my subscription upon my next renewal.

Not only do I prefer the old edittor, it has functionality the new edittor doesn't (relationships, for example) and the new edittor is having regularly site-breaking slowdowns and crashes. Just let users easily access the old more stable edittor!

Until the New Editor page is at a state where it can fully replace the old editor page, the old editor page shouldn't be hidden and should be accessible from everywhere the new editor page can be accessed.

The old version edit does better for my workflow, the new version is...finicky. I'm glad it works well for a lot of people, but it's actively limiting for people like me.

Seconding this, the new UI is really laggy and just very clunky and just generally breaks my workflow

Old version edit is eventually going away, so it doesn't make much sense to make it the default version anywhere. Better to give the team detailed feedback about what's not working for you about the new editor. Plus, you can resolve your problem by opening View in a second tab, so you can easily flip between the View and Edit interface (this works on both editors).
