A way to measure Distance on maps

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I don't see it as a function missing, but it would make life easier if distance is set up on the maps already. Rather than having to count spaces(if there is spaces on the map, might just be me?).   Ps. Sorry if this is a waste of time.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! This has been suggested in the past, and is now planned as part of Atlas (the next major update to maps).

I feel JayTheLegend has the right of it.

this should be in two parts. setting a scale for the map as a whole (such as ft yards, miles, kilometers, etc ) not by pixel density but by drawing a line that can be hidden on the map. Then a way to measure two or several points on a line for a total distance. similar to the way line works now.

I would love this. now that you mention it, I'm surprised it isn't a feature yet. An adjustable scale + rulers would be my pick, or maybe adjustable scale grids.

Maybe with rulers like in Azgaars Fantasy Map Generator?

A grid overlay with editable distances similar to Roll20's would be fantastic!

As someone who desperately requires this for my worlds to be easily accessible, this is a fantastic suggestion for a feature that I think should definitely be implemented!

I see many things that should be on the map by the mapmaker conceringing this, but there are things that WorldAnvil could add, like a grid to turn on or off by the user, or a "ruler" of sorts to measure distance between two places, or maybe even following the road (though that might be over the top).
