Turn off/on individual section within an article template.

I would like the ability to turn off or remove certain sections within all my articles templates for my campaign world. For instance, I may not be interested in filling out trauma and fears for my characters and I would like to be able to simply remove that from all my character templates to save space and make filling out my information more efficient and uniform.

Follow up

Even if it was simply a collapse/expand, it would be much better than having to pan down three pages worth of skipping for which section wasn't applicable. No one fills out every one of these sections, so expanding only the ones for whatever you need would be beneficial. World Anvil is already overly complicated for the majority of people so it can be used by a vast swath. That's all in fine, but the idea is to tailor each members world anvil experience to what benefits them and their creation. I don't see an issue in resources for a expand/collapse button on a setting. Each their own though.
appreciate it

Thanks for your suggestion! A future (but unscheduled) update will address this issue, although not in the way you suggested.

I kinda get the 'so much to scroll and I don't need it' kind of view, but I'm pretty sure this suggestion would eat up a lot of time and coding energy and might bloat the database if every single user on WA wants to have their own settings for every template and maybe even different settings per world. This just seems impossible. Even if you go with "lets collapese/expand every single field", it would be an all or nothing setting which might be annoying very quickly if you have to then expand per hand everything you want or collapse everything you don't .... Honestly, I'd just leave it as is. Skip the stuff you don't need and be done with it.

I think this is totally extraneous, you can already ignore what you don't use and it doesn't appear on the page. You can also always use a generic article template.   I'm not convinced this is helpful to anyone.

Early on, I would see various prompts in a template and think “When would I ever use that?” I would leave it blank and continue. Later on, I would see those same prompts and because my world was a little more developed it would inspire a lot of creative ideas. If I had been able to remove those prompts, I would have forgot they were there and never be inspired.

I agree with A Fierce Dragon, this seems like an immense waste of resources when the very simple, and resource-free, solution is just to pretend the fields you don't want to fill exist.

With all due empathy and respect, in my eyes, this seems like a huge sinkhole of time and energy for the team when we already have the solution in our hands: ignoring sections we don’t want to fill out. Considering the intense amount of work this would require from the team, adding the option to toggle *every single field* on *every single template* just doesn’t seem justifiable.
