chronos timeline era eras
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Generally, the timelines are very good. However, in one of my worlds, I encountered a difficulty with them. This particular world has multiple planets, and each planet has their own timeline and BC/AD-like eras, with their own unique names. For now, I manually added these eras to each world timeline, however, there are a few difficulties with this. For example, if the BC-like era lasts for 5000 years, you have to remember to add those 5000 years when adding events to the timeline. Also, I like the fact that when using the BC/AD eras in my other worlds, you can enter a negative number for the BC years (which makes filling in the years a lot easier) and the fact that you don't have to set an amount of years for the BC era.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
My request is to allow the creation of multiple BC/AD eras in the world configuration and allowing these to be added to a timeline. For me, this would be very useful and save me from having to clumsily attempt to create these eras. Manual eras are very useful when having more than two eras, or eras that significantly diverge from our "standard" BC/AD template, but for creating multiple BC/AD eras, one for each planet, this would be more useful in my opinion.
What are other uses for this feature request?
None that I can see.
The Team's Response
Hello Beans!
The BC/AD facsimile system on World Settings is a global world baseline.:) Eras can be created and changed by using the TImelines system that is created for exactly that reason.
There are plans to introduce "global" eras in the future but the way YOU as the worldbuilder will mark time will still be by counting from a 0 time in "years". The Global Eras system will just reformat how this time looks in articles and it will be a baseline that will be overridden by timelines.
